Foreword

2024.08.06 15:45

Hebrews 4:16 Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

How wonderful is this? Do not be discouraged. Worrying does not solve anything. God told us to cast all our worries on Him (Ps 55:22; Prov 16:3; 1 Pet 5:7-8). Even being able to entrust our worries to God is His grace for us. When we look at Hebrews 4:16, we see that grace is the throne of God. Therefore, until we reach that kingdom, even if we forget everything else, I pray that you will believe that you may enter through the gates of heaven as long as you carry with you the grace that is received through God’s Word.

However, no matter how great the love or help we receive, if we do not recognize how grateful we should be for it, then it is not grace. No matter how wonderful a gift we receive, if we do not realize its value, it is meaningless. Grace is like that. The Holy Spirit comes to us as the Spirit of truth, to help us recognize and remember the grace we have received and to teach us about the future (John 14:13, 26).

But there also is grace upon grace (John 1:16). There is no substitute for grace. Everything is the work of grace. “Grace upon grace” means we continuously receive new grace. So we must not be content with just receiving grace, but must strive to receive new grace upon grace. This is the greatest grace. John 1:14 says, “And the Word became flflesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.” God’s presence with us is the grace of all graces.

The purpose of Jesus coming to this earth is Immanuel (Matt 1:23). When the Word became flflesh and came to this earth, He came with grace and truth. To say we have received grace means we have received Jesus, who came as the Word incarnate. It means we have welcomed Jesus into our hearts. Living in grace means living in Jesus, living in the Word. Until we reach His kingdom, we must never forsake God’s grace and always live in gratitude.
